Group Coaching

Learn within a group while working privately with your own patterns, experiences and outcomes. You don't have to share the details of what you're struggling with.

An online group coaching session on a laptop

Group coaching brings the Mentalize approach into a supportive online environment. Guided by Gerry, you'll learn to understand what's happening before the behaviour or reaction you're struggling with takes over, and how to regain more control over what happens next.

Everyone works with their own experiences, behaviours and outcomes. You don't have to be struggling with the same thing as everyone else, and you don't have to share the personal details of what you're working on.

Who Group Coaching Is For

Our group programmes are designed for people who want to work on areas such as:

  • Stress, anxiety and overwhelm
  • Addiction and recurring unwanted behaviours
  • Low confidence and self-doubt
  • Burnout and pressure at work
  • Overthinking and procrastination
  • Other behaviours or reactions you want to understand and change

Group members can work on different issues. The shared element is the framework and facilitated process, not identical personal content.

What's Included

Guided Online Sessions

Structured online group sessions led by Gerry, using the Jurisdiction Method to help you understand what happens before your own behaviour or reactions take over. What we discover determines the approaches and exercises used within the programme.

Private Individual Application

You apply the work to your own experiences, behaviours and outcomes. You don't have to explain the personal details of what you're working on to the rest of the group.

The Mentalize Group Community

A private space for members to connect between sessions, continue conversations and support one another.

Practical Tools

Practical strategies and exercises you can use in everyday life, with opportunities to notice what changes and bring what you discover back into the programme.

Why Choose Mentalize

People choose group coaching with Mentalize because it offers:

  • A shared framework with individual application
  • The opportunity to learn from the experiences and observations of others
  • No requirement to disclose the personal details of what you're working on
  • Practical work you can apply in everyday situations
  • Online access from wherever you are
  • A private community that continues between sessions

Our Approach

Everything starts with a free online consultation. We take time to understand what you are experiencing, what you want to change and whether group coaching, one-to-one coaching or another option is the right fit for you.

Once you join a group, everyone follows the same overall framework while applying it to their own situation. We work on understanding what happens before unwanted behaviour or reactions take over, recognising those moments earlier and developing different options you can use in real life.

You don't have to share the personal details of what you're working on. Where an issue emerges that is not appropriate to work with in the group format, we'll discuss the appropriate way forward with you individually.

Progress is tested in everyday life. What happens between sessions gives us information about what's changing and what needs further work.

Benefits of Group Coaching

Working in a group offers benefits that are different from one-to-one coaching:

  • Learn alongside people working on their own changes
  • Hear how other people recognise and respond to situations in their own lives
  • Apply the same shared framework privately to your own situation
  • Regular sessions that give you opportunities to practise, review and build on what you're learning
  • Connection and support through the Mentalize Group community
  • Online access from wherever you are

Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is treated in confidence and handled in accordance with professional and data protection requirements, and every member agrees to keep what is shared in the group private.

No. You can work privately with your own experiences and apply what you're learning without explaining the personal details to the rest of the group. You can contribute to group discussion as much or as little as feels appropriate for you.

One-to-one coaching is built entirely around you and your individual situation. Group coaching uses a shared framework and facilitated process, while each person applies the work to their own experiences, behaviours and outcomes. The group also provides the opportunity to learn from other people's observations and experiences.
